A word of testimony

Some time back, our co-worker in Chennai, Rev.J.Navamani Manokaran informed me that he had visited a woman of God who was mightily used of God in India during 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.  She is Pappa Shankar who is now 75 years old. Manokaran told me that Pappa Shankar lives in a small house in Chennai which has the roof of asbestos seat only.  Since Chennai is known for its extreme hot climate, it is very difficult for an aged person like Pappa Shankar to live in a house with the asbestos roof.  When I asked him whether the evangelists and the other servants of God are financially supporting her, he informed me that she is not getting any regular financial assistance from these servants of God.  He told me that she is being supported financially by those who were blessed by God through her ministry.  Then Navamani Manokaran and I decided to raise funds for helping Pappa Shankar.

After my conversation with Navamani Manokaran, I immediately recalled my younger days when I witnessed the ministry of this woman of God.  She was known for the gift of casting of demons and evil spirits.  I remember to have seen people possessed of demons fall before the dais of her meetings in my home town, Munnar, Kerala State.

One day, after visiting her, Navamani Manokaran spoke to me on phone from her house and introduced me to Pappa Shankar.  She also spoke to me on phone.  While speaking to me, she showed her motherly love.   

She is now 75 years old, still serving her Master in Chennai. On every first Saturday, she holds a fasting and prayer meeting in Chennai. She also publishes a Tamil magazine of a few pages every month. She is an illiterate woman and can only read Bible. When I told her that I would create a website for her, she told me that she did not know what was a web-site or internet. She hailed from an orthodox Hindu family in Tamil Nadu, India.

"....God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty:

And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are:

That no flesh should glory in His presence." (I Cor.27-29).

Many people want to acquire theological degrees and to spend many years in a Bible college to serve God. But, Pappa Shankar was chosen by God when she was in the furnace of afflictions.  The furnace of afflictions was her Bible College.  She did not learn the Word of God formally but the Holy Spirit taught her through the school of suffering. She turned out to be an extraordinary woman of God with the power of God overflowing her ministry.

According to her testimony, she was considered as a useless woman and rejected by her husband.  But God picked her from the doorstep of her house where she was driven by her husband to lead her life.  The doorstep of her home became the place where God called her into a great ministry.  She was not called by God when she was leading her family life in her home. God called her after she had been chased out of her very home by her husband and after she had decided to stay in a small hut along with her children near her home.

According to her testimony, she passed through the valley of Baca and made it a well (Psalm 84:6).

God still uses her mightily. She had visited Malaysia also for God's work. On 4th April 1991, our beloved ex-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi wrote a letter to Pappa Shankar Ammal.  At the footnote of this letter, he wrote in his own hand "Please pray for me". As you are aware, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in Sriperpumpudur, Tamil Nadu, on 21st May, 1991. 

I pray that your eyes may be opened to the secrets of God that had covered the ministry of Pappa Shankar.

Beginning of sorrows

Birth and marriage of Pappa Shankar:

The parents of Pappa Shankar had not been blessed with any child.  All the babies born, except the elder sister of Pappa Shankar, died one after another.  The Lord protected the womb that bore her. When she was three years old, her mother died. Then she was brought up by her father under the care of elder sister.  Pappa Shankar could not be educated due to poverty. Her father married off her to a man. Though her father gave dowry in the form of gold jewels to her husband, the latter snatched away her jewels and began to beat and harass her.  In the meantime, her first son was born. At that time, Pappa Shankar did not know the Lord. She was following the Hindu religion.

Persecution

The sister of her husband along with her own husband lived in her house. Her husband along with his sister's family started persecuting Pappa Shankar.  They conspired to murder her.  They threatened her with death if she did not leave the house. In the meantime, she was blessed with a second male child. 

On the advice of her sister, her husband invoked the powers of evil spirits through witchcraft just to get rid of "the curse on Pappa Shankar".  They performed a special ceremony on her by sacrificing a hen.  As a result of this, she became very ill, and was confined to death-bed for two years. Then they dragged her from the house and confined her and her children to a small hut near the house.

When some Christian believers came to know about this, they visited her hut and prayed for her. For two years, they visited her and ministered to her when she was bed-ridden.  One day, her condition grew worse and she was about to die. One dear sister, namely, Hepsibah Ponniah Soundari and her group, came there and travailed in prayers to God. One dear servant of God, namely Jeevanandam, was also called in to pray for her deliverance.  Brother Jeevanandam claimed God's promise in Isaiah 35:3 - "Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees".  God heard the prayer of this dear servant of God and strengthened her weak hands and confirmed her feeble knees.  He lifted her up from the bed in the Name of Jesus and she stood.  Then they carried her to a fasting prayer meeting.  Afterwards, Pappa Shankar started experiencing the healing power of God in her body.  She was healed completely in 6 months. But the fear of death stalked her because she had not experienced salvation through Christ Jesus.

Her woes began to increase manifold. She had no food to eat. She had no cot to sleep. She had none to help her. Brother Jeevanandam, the servant of God who prayed for her deliverance, had prophesied that those who involved the powers of witchcraft against Pappa Shankar would reap what they had sown. His words of prophecy came to pass. The husband of the sister of her husband died. Since this man died, they brought the daughter of this dead man to the house just to take care of her marriage.  Then Pappa Shankar and her children were driven out of the hut in the premises. She along with her children started living near the doorstep of the house like a dog.  Unable to bear the brunt of her agony, she decided to end her life.

Tryst with death

In order to end her life, she ate some poisonous fruits mixed with gingili oil.  After consuming it, she started to vomit blood.  The Christian believers who were earlier praying for her arrived there when the Holy Spirit revealed this to them.  Her two sons fell on her body and wept when she was dying. They immediately took her to the nearby Government hospital. Her husband just watched this incident as an onlooker without doing any help. The doctors who examined her predicted that she would expire before 10 a.m. the following day. They also informed that they would hand over her dead body only after conducting post-mortem on it. But, the Christian believers started throughout the night with a great burden. To the great astonishment of all, she opened her eyes in the morning of the following day. Then, she started recovering and was discharged from the hospital in 7 days.

Her husband threatened her that if she came home alive, he would kill her.  She replied to him that if God willed, she would be alive; otherwise, she would die very soon.

Second attempt to suicide and encounter with Jesus

She was feeding her two children and herself with the paltry sum that she earned out of a business of making roof with the straw of paddy fields. They slept on the roadside near their house. At night, they heard the noise of foxes emanating from the nearby forest. They could not sleep. Nobody would open his house when knocked at this night time. Pappa Shankar then decided to end her life in a different way and not in the earlier manner of consuming poison.  This time, she decided to kill her children also. She decided to fall into a well along with her children. She remembered Jesus Christ at that time and thought that if Jesus Christ or any of the Hindu gods or goddesses would meet her, she would dedicate her life to that god. Then she tied her two children around her waist through a rope and jumped into the well.

When she jumped into the well with her children at about 9 p.m, a miracle happened.  Some power descended on her like a lightening and threw her and her children away from the mouth of the well. There was none there. She heard a voice three times calling her, "My daughter".  When she looked up, she saw a cross in the midst of the cloud. She saw a Person attired in a white robe descend from this cross and came near her. Then that Person wiped off her tears. She asked Him, "Sir, who are You?” That Person replied, "I am your Lord. You shall not weep from now onwards. Since you are illiterate and have not gone to the school, I will grant you five spiritual gifts.  These are the gifts. (i) As you lay your hands on the sick, they shall recover (ii) You shall speak out words out of My wisdom (iii) You shall prophesy (iv) My grace and power will never depart from you (v) You shall preach.

Pappa Shankar received Jesus Christ as her Savior. When she opened her eyes after hearing the above message from Jesus, she saw her two children lying in a ditch full of muddy water by her side. She picked up her children from the ditch and reached home. The first portion she read from the Bible was from Jeremiah 1:5-10. God spoke to her from this passage and told her, "I will lead you wonderfully".  When she narrated the whole incident to her husband and told him that God had given her these five gifts, he did not accept her words and drove her along with her children away from the house. She was perplexed and did not know where to go with her two children. She then hired a small hut near the house on a monthly rent of Rs.3/- and lived with her children in that hut for 3 years. She earned her livelihood by doing the small business of making roofs out of the straw. Her husband still persecuted her.  He set fire to her clothes.  Without any clothes of covering over her body, she hesitated to go outside.

One day, she began to seek the face of the Lord with a real burden and prayed throughout the whole day.  At about 11 p.m, the Holy Spirit came upon her and anointed her mightily.  God spoke to her face to face and promised to use her through signs and wonders.

Ministry in the midst of persecution 

Pappa Shankar wore a Sari gifted to her by the owner of her house and came out of her house for God's work. She began her first ministry in the house of a post master who lived nearby. He was possessed by a feminine demon called "Mohini".  On seeing her, the demon in the body of this person started screaming. The demon testified, "You are the daughter of God who came to drive me out of this body".  Pappa Shankar rebuked the demon in the Name of Jesus Christ and she (Mohini) left the body of the post master.

Some women of God also joined her in the ministry. As they ministered to many in the city of Chennai, evil spirits were cast out and sick people healed.  She and her team received invitations from many churches in the city.

When she returned home with the offerings she received from the people, her husband snatched the same from her hands and went away. One day, she ministered in a church at the Red Hills and stayed there for the ministry. Her husband visited her there and stayed with her for the night.  When Pappa Shankar saw him off from the terrace of the church, he pushed her down from the terrace. She fell down and one of her legs fractured due to the fall. She remained with the fractured leg for a long time and ministered to God. Many people of God came forward to help her and gave her food and clothes.  

When the famous evangelist Balasir Lawrie held revival meetings in Chennai during 1966, he prophesied that God would use Pappa Shankar mightily in the days to come. Then her father, namely Shankar, saw the growth of her ministry and decided to stay with her.  He comforted her. At that time, a third female baby was born to her. At that time, she was suffering from tuberculosis. Her husband did not give her proper food. Pappa Shankar wished and prayed that no woman on this earth should suffer like her.

Her ministry grew by leaps and bounds. In the meantime, she was blessed with a third female baby. As her children began to grow, they resisted their father. Her husband continued to persecute them and took away all their things.  When she argued with him, he hit her head with a stick and left. Then he started living separately along with another family and gave away all his income to that family. But God was with her and took care of her and her children.

In a town in Tamil Nadu, namely Palladam, she ministered to about one lakh people assembled there.  At that time, she carried her young child to the meeting. Some people who were inimical to the gospel of Christ in that town opposed her ministry.  After some days, cholera disease broke out in Palladam and many people perished due to divine wrath.

In a place called "Thiruverumbur" near Trichy town in Tamil Nadu, some people attempted to kill her by shooting at her when she ministered there. But God saved her miraculously. The gun shots missed her. She fled from the dais of the meeting, ran to the forest and escaped from the hands of her enemies. God thus saved her from the enemies of the gospel.

A ministry of notable miracles and healings

God began to bless the ministry of Pappa Shankar in an amazing manner.  He revealed hidden secrets to her like the Old Testament prophets received revelations. The gift of calling people by their names was manifested through her ministry. This gift is in operation through some evangelists in Tamil Nadu.  God gave her revelations in respect of people to whom she ministered.

Ministry in Andhra Pradesh

Since her husband persecuted her and spoiled her name by spreading a canard about her in the State of Tamil Nadu, she wept to God bitterly. The Lord commanded her to go to the State of Andhra Pradesh for ministry. She did not know anybody in Andhra Pradesh.  However, she obeyed God and ministered in Andhra Pradesh for about 12 years.  She used to go to Andhra Pradesh from Tamil Nadu by train for His work. The people of God in Andhra Pradesh encouraged and helped her. Then she prayed to God for opening doors in the state of Tamil Nadu.  God heard her prayers and opened many doors for her.

Miracles in Chennai

One senior officer working for the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, namely, Brother Inbaraj, lost his eye sight.  He was brought to her for prayers. As she prayed for him, God healed him instantaneously.  Upon this miracle, Inbaraj asked her what she wanted him to do for her. She requested him to arrange for a big meeting in a big auditorium at Periyar Thidal, Chennai.  He immediately arranged for it. One Brother John who was the friend of Brother Inbaraj financed this meeting. Many miracles took place during this meeting. Then she received invitations for holding meetings in Trichy and other towns in Tamil Nadu. God delivered hundreds from diseases like cancer, kidney failure, etc.

One dear sister, namely, Lilly, had no child for about 18 years because she was possessed of 110 evil spirits. Pappa Shankar cast out of her all these evil spirits in the Name of Jesus Christ. Afterwards, Lilly was blessed with three children. Another lady, namely Miss Asirvadham was admitted to the Railway Hospital, Chennai for a surgery for removing a tumor in her brain. Pappa Shankar was taken to the hospital for prayers. As she prayed, Lilly was healed without undergoing the surgery.

Miracle in Vellore, Tamil Nadu

One servant of God, namely Pastor David was admitted to the Christian Medical College, Vellore, for a surgery for cancer. The Holy Spirit asked her to pray for him at 7.30 a.m. on a particular day.  At that time, this pastor was praying with tears. As she prayed for him, a miracle happened in the hospital.  A spark of fire came from heaven and touched that particular organ in his body which was affected by cancer.  The cancerous growth was burnt and he was healed instantaneously.

Miracle in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu

She went to a town in Tamil Nadu, called Rajapalayam for ministry. The family members of a Christian family in this town were warned by Pappa Shankar against going out of their house on a particular day as she had received a word of knowledge that some untoward incident would take place for them if they ventured to go out. One young boy, namely, Rajappa, belonging to this family did not heed to her warning but mocked at her. However, the other members of this family obeyed her words. On that fateful day, Rajappa went out on his bicycle alongwith his friends. When he was driving his bicycle on a bridge, a bullock cart laden with straw came from the opposite direction. When he gave side to this cart, he slipped over the bridge and fell down from the bridge. In this terrible accident, he sustained head injuries. He was very serious.  The doctors attending on him gave up all hopes of recovery. The parents of Rajappa approached Pappa Shankar. Pappa Shankar wrestled with God in prayers.  At that time, a miracle happened. A ray of light descended on Rajappa and healed him instantaneously.  After this miraculous healing, Rajappa committed his life into the hands of Christ Jesus and became a servant of God.

Miracle in Arakonam, Tamil Nadu

A meeting was held in the town of Arakonam. A couple, namely, Royal Jayandhi and his wife, Sakuntala, attended this meeting out of curiosity to witness the miracles. Brother Rayal Jahandhi who was suffering from a serious disease planned to go to the Christian Medical College for a surgery.  During the meeting, Pappa Shankar received a word of knowledge and called this brother by name. When this brother came to the dais, she prayed for his healing.  He was healed by God instantaneously.

After a year, his wife, Sakuntala, became ill and was admitted to the Christian Medical College, Vellore for treatment. Pappa Shankar visited her in the hospital and prayed for her with tears. God healed her miraculously.

Miracle in Thanjavur 

Pappa Shankar held a meeting at a place called Thilakar Thidal in the town of Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. One senior IAS officer (a government officer belonging to Indian Administrative Services), namely, Judson Abel, was sitting under a tree along with his wife.  Pappa Shankar received a word of knowledge and called the wife of this officer by name. She revealed that this woman was suffering from cancer and asked her to come to the dais for receiving the divine healing. But the officer grew suspicious thinking that it could be the trick of mesmerism and went away along with his wife. After finishing this meeting, Pappa Shankar went to the state of Andhra Pradesh for the ministry.  In the meantime, the wife of this officer complained of chest pain and the doctors who examined her informed them that she was suffering from cancer. Upon this, the couple came to the house of Pappa Shankar for prayers.  But she was not there because she had gone to Andhra Pradesh for the ministry of a long duration. In the meantime, this woman expired.  When she was on her deathbed, she requested her husband Judson Abel to send offerings to Pappa Shankar regularly.  To fulfill the last wish of her beloved wife, Judson Abel started sending offerings to Pappa Shankar.

Barren wombs blessed

God performed notable miracles through the hands of Pappa Shankar.  We are giving only a few testimonies for the glory of God.

One Mrs.Yele Roberts from Nigeria was admitted to Padma Hospital in Chennai for delivery.  But she could not deliver the baby on time.  Mr.Robert rushed to Pappa Shankar for help.  Pappa Shankar immediately went to the hospital, laid her hands on Mrs.Yele Robert's abdomen  and sincerely prayed. Within two minutes of her prayers, Mrs.Roberts delivered a beautiful girl baby.  Pappa Shankar named this baby as Caroline Lydia.  

Dr.John Paul Judson was the Chief Medical Officer in the Government General hospital at Chennai.  His wife was barren for eight years.  After the prayers of Pappa Shankar, a girl baby was born to them.  In the second picture, you can see Pappa Shankar and this little girl. (See the above photo.  Pappa Shankar with this girl)

Mrs.Benny Prince was unable to deliver the baby in Pandaly Nursing Home. Pappa Shankar was informed of this. She immediately rushed to the said Nursing Home for prayers.  The doctors allowed her to enter the Operation Theatre itself for prayers. God heard her prayers and blessed Mrs.Benny Prince with a beautiful girl baby.

Power of God against magicians

In the town of Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Pappa Shankar held an evangelical meeting. Wall-posters with her pictures were displayed on the walls in this city. A powerful magician, namely Raju, walked by a road which displayed a wall-poster.  The picture of Pappa Shankar called the magician by name.  On hearing the voice calling him, "Raju, stop", he stopped and looked around to see who called him by name. Since he could not see any person there, he walked ahead over a little distance. Then again he heard the same voice talking to him, "Oh, Raju, stop for a while".  He then realised that it emanated from the wall-poster. The wall-poster now talked to him very clearly, "Will you attend my meeting tonight?"  Raju, the magician, said, "Yes".  On that evening, Raju reached the venue of the meeting after performing his ceremonies of black-magic. He came there with his magical tools like human skeleton, lemon, etc. He began to invoke his magical powers. He threw a special powder called "Vibuthi" in Tamil language, at her.  Nothing untoward happened to Pappa Shankar. After some time, he fell down before the dais.

In the meantime, another magician from the state of Kerala was brought in to disturb the meeting. This magician brought a lot of magical tools like eggs, brass rods, "Vibuthi" and stood before the dais to challenge her. He called her and told, "Oh, ye dog, come down". Then he started flinging these magical objects, one by one, at her.  To his great surprise, nothing happened. He also fell down before the dais. Later, he confessed that he was hired for a sum of Rs.10, 000 by her enemies.  Then he asked Pappa Shankar to pray for him and he left the meeting after her prayers.  The whole town came to know about this miracle and thronged to hear her message.  The meeting continued there for 5 days and God performed many miracles through her. After the meetings, the people of this town took her in an open jeep through the town and honored her with their gifts.  God was thus glorified in that town.

When Pappa Shankar held a meeting in the town of Arakonam, Tamil Nadu, a magician, named Latif Sahib, came to the dais and testified that though he performed all kinds of black magic against her for five days, he could not succeed and that he saw the power of God surround the dais.  He could not go near her and saw Jesus Christ stand by her side.

Wild Elephants obeyed her!

Pappa Shankar along with her team was on her way to Valparai, a hill-station in Tamil Nadu, for ministry.  A truck was going ahead of her van. A herd of wild elephants encountered the truck.  Two rogue elephants from the herd attacked the truck.  The occupants of the truck including its driver fled the truck and took shelter in her van. Then the elephants approached her van to attack it. She raised her hands towards the elephants and spoke to them, "Ye, elephants, you and I were created by God.  Do not harm us!” On hearing her words, the elephants lifted up their trunks as a token of their agreement and went away. The onlookers who witnessed this scene thought that she and others who traveled in the van would be killed by the wild elephants. But God saved them.

The people who attended the meeting in the town of Valparai in that evening glorified God for this miracle.

A demoness and a legion of evil spirits cast out! 

In response to an invitation, Pappa Shankar and her team went to a town called Mathikod in Tamil Nadu for ministry. Upon reaching this town, she asked the organizers of the meeting whether they had arranged the meeting.  They informed her that only after she had gone to the place where they would erect the dais for the meeting and prayed for God's blessings upon this particular place, they would arrange the meeting. When she wanted to know the reason for this, she was informed that a powerful demoness, namely, Ezekki, was hindering the work for construction of a church at this place though the Christians of that village bought the land for the purpose of building a church and that whosoever had gone and prayed at this place, he or she would fall ill and would suffer.

Pappa Shankar and her team reached this place with a plough for digging this place.  As they dug this place, they came across some objects of worship dedicated to this demoness. After prayers, they removed the same from the earth.

Afterwards, the meeting was arranged to be held in the evening. When the meeting was in progress, an evil man made a debut and ran to the dais shouting at her and saying, "You had hit me with your plough.  I will now drink your blood".  On seeing this ferocious man approach the dais, Pappa Shankar immediately commanded him to stop in the Name of Jesus Christ.  At once, he fell down with a bang. She prayed to God for sending fire from the Heaven to remove him from that place. That man shrieked, ran away and fell into a nearby pond.  People thought that he would die. But God saved him and later he became a servant of God.  He ministered to the people from the surrounding areas and delivered many from diseases. A great joy was felt in that town.  A church was later constructed there and God was glorified in that town.

The following day, a woman possessed of many evil spirits was brought to the meeting. The evil spirits could not be cast out of her earlier.  She was brought in chains and was seated silently.  When Pappa Shankar climbed the dais, that woman shrieked and approached the dais. As soon as she came near Pappa Shankar, she fell down.  Pappa Shankar spoke to the evil spirits, "Who are you?"  They replied, "We are many. It will take a long time for us to reveal all our names to you". Immediately, she commanded the evil spirits to come out of the body of that woman. 

The parents of this woman later informed Pappa Shankar that nine children were born to this woman. But as soon as each baby was born, she strangled the new born baby and drank its blood.  The last baby was carried by her in her arms to the meeting.  This child was also wounded by her. After she was delivered from all these evil spirits, Pappa Shankar prayed for the healing of this baby.  After healing the baby in the Name of Jesus, Pappa Shankar gave this baby back to her mother.

Stayed in a house haunted by evil spirits 

Pappa Shankar along with her children went to a town called Mudalur in Tamil Nadu for ministry. After the meeting was over, she and her children were accommodated for their night stay in a shed adjacent to the venue of meeting.  That shed was used for burning the dead bodies according to the Hindu rites. Pappa Shankar was not aware of this when she stayed there along with her children. When she questioned the people who brought her to this shed, they told her, "Amma, (meaning mother in Tamil language), you can pray here well".

At mid-night, the windows of that shed opened suddenly with a bang. She saw human skeletons enter her room and saw them dance.  Her children feared and began to weep.  Her youngest child in her lap began to vomit. She cried out, "Oh, God, You have left us alone in this place!"

At that time, the father of Pappa Shankar came in search of her. He knocked at the door. She opened the room for him. He wondered as to how she came to stay in that "cremation ground".  She replied she did not know why.  Her father and she began to pray in that room for God's protection. All of a sudden, the room was filled with a bright light. God's presence filled that place and her baby was healed.

In the morning, the people of the town came to her room with the cups of coffee for her. When she asked them as to why they had accommodated her and her children in that room, they replied coolly, "Some people wanted to tempt you.  Please do not curse us for this".  They pleaded her to forgive them and informed her that nobody else could stay in that room earlier. Afterwards, he along with his father and children left that town.

In perils of waters and of enemies during ministry 

Pappa Shankar along with her baby was on her way to a town called Tirupathi Saram in Andhra Pradesh. She had to cross a canal.  Her baby was carried by a helper. The gate of this canal was opened all of a sudden when she was crossing it.  The helper carrying her baby reached the shore. The flood water swept her away. To prevent her from being swept away by the water, she caught hold of a tree’s trunk.  After the water receded, she was rescued from the top of the tree on which she perched. When she alighted from the tree, she was bitten by a snake and fell unconscious. Her team members prayed for her and God saved her life.  In the evening, despite her bodily weakness, she stood on the dais for delivering God’s message during the meeting.  God performed great miracles on that day through her hands.  She was accommodated in a house for her night stay after the meeting. That house was located near a canal and the wall of that house was in a broken condition. As soon she entered the house, a cobra made a debut and rushed to her in a dancing posture. But God saved her life miraculously.  Later she came to know that her enemies had thrown the cobra in that house just to get her bitten by it.

When she along with her team was on their way to a town called Elluru in Andhra Pradesh, they were waylaid by a gang of terrorists known as Naxalites. They were in hiding under a bridge and wanted to ambush the vehicle that carried her. When the gang of Naxalites approached their vehicle, she prayed God shouting at the top of her voice. On hearing her prayer, they told her that she and her team appeared to be the true people of God. She and her team were then let off by the Naxalites. 

In the town of Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu, she held the gospel meetings. An evil man grew jealous of her wondering as to how God used a woman like her. He came to the meeting with a cake, called Halwa in Tamil language mixed with poison. When he was approaching the meeting, the Holy Spirit revealed this secret to her.  She immediately informed a police inspector who was present during the meeting. When the cake (Halwa) was examined by the police, it contained poison.  That evil man was subsequently arrested by the police. 

She received an invitation for holding a meeting in the town of Valparai, Tamil Nadu. But the Holy Spirit hindered her from accepting this invitation.  However, she went to Valparai for the meeting. A man, namely, Deva Nesan, who arranged the meetings for ten days collected a lot of donations for the meeting and kept the same for himself. He then put Pappa Shankar and her team in a house and locked it from outside. When the believers brought this fact to the notice of some political leaders belonging to Congress party, she and her team members were set free. After some time, the wrath of God was poured on Deva Nesan, and he died under mysterious circumstances. 

Latest testimonies of miracles

You can read latest testimonies of those who have been blessed by God through the ministry of Pappa Shankar. God still uses this woman of God for His glory.  One of the five gifts granted by God to Pappa Shankar when the latter received the divine call in her life is that the power and grace of God would never depart from her.   

Miracle of  a cargo ship stuck up in the middle of the sea started functioning

One dear sister Melba from Nagercoil has reported during April 2004 a testimony of miracle that happened.  A merchant ship which was run by them got stuck at Cuttack harbour in Orissa State.  It was there for four months.  It could not be repaired despite the fact that many technical experts did their best to revive it. At that time, Pappa Shankar visited a house in Nagercoil where Sister Melba met her.  When she requested Pappa Shankar to pray for a miracle, the latter asked Melba to get in touch with the captain and the crew of the ship through a mobile phone. Pappa Shankar requested the captain and others to lift up their hands towards the heaven and to join with her in prayers. After finishing her prayer, she asked the captain to start the ship. What a miracle! The ship started moving.

A dumb girl delivered from an evil spirit

One dear sister, namely, Saras, has reported from Thiruthani, Tamil Nadu during February 2005 that her daughter aged 6 years became dumb all of a sudden. Saras took her daughter to a fasting and prayer meeting held by Pappa Shankar in Arakonam.  During the meeting, Pappa Shankar received a word of knowledge and called this sister by name and told, "Saras, Jesus calls you. Though many doctors examined your daughter,  she could not be healed. Come to the stage". Then Saras took her daughter to the dais and Pappa Shankar laid her hands on her daughter and rebuked the "dumb spirit" in Jesus' Name. Then the child was delivered from the evil spirit and was healed.

Miracle in the pit dug for a bore well 

One brother, namely, P.Palace Sunder Raj reported from Chennai during June 2004 that due to the water scarcity in Chennai, they faced this acute problem. Since the wells surrounding his house had dried up, he wanted to put a bore well.  Pappa Shankar came to his house and showed that particular place for putting the bore well and told them that they would get very good water from this place. After digging the ground upto a depth of 58 feet, the auger i.e. the boring tool broke down and a part of it got embedded in the earth. Pappa Shankar told them not to worry and gave oil after praying over it. As this oil was poured into the pit, the broken part of the auger came out of the water miraculously within 10 minutes. Then this brother requested Pappa Shankar to give him a bottle of oil prayed over by her.  He wanted to use this oil for delivering the people from sicknesses.  Pappa Shankar acceded to her request and this brother used this oil for performing miracles in the midst of the Hindu people.
